Mrs Lucy Molony

Board Chair

Lucy grew up in Geraldton WA where she was educated by the Presentation Sisters at Stella Maris College. After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of WA and her teacher training at Claremont Teachers’ College in Perth, Lucy returned to Geraldton to teach at Geraldton High School.

She moved to Victoria in 1968 with her late husband and taught at Glen Waverley High School and then at Avila College. She was lucky enough to be given a year’s leave to complete her Bachelor of Theology Degree in 1986 and then she commenced as Principal at Our Lady of Sion College in 1987 where she remained for the next ten years.

The late 1990s brought a change of direction and Lucy worked at the Tribunal of the Catholic Church for some time and then as Director of Towards Healing, Victoria. In 2006 Lucy returned to her first love—education—and has been working since in the induction and mentoring of new Secondary Principals, in reviews and appraisals of various kinds and as a Reviewer for the School Improvement Framework.

Lucy has been involved in a number of Boards and she is delighted to have joined the Mercy Education Board and so have another opportunity to witness the inspirational work that occurs in our schools.

Lucy was appointed Board Chair in May 2015.
